The outdoors
Four spaces,
four ways to use them
- The pool
- Nine metres by five, salt-water, with a shallow entry that slopes gently down: toddlers sit and play in a few centimetres of water while everyone else swims. A flat rock in the middle doubles as an island for sunbathing or playing (it even works as a table). Loungers and floor cushions all around.
- The covered terrace
- Fifty square metres of stone under an exposed timber frame, extended by a large shade sail. A table for ten on one side, garden furniture on the other. It is the extra room of the house, and where most of the day is spent.
- The pétanque court
- A proper eleven-by-four-metre court, shaded by trees in the late afternoon. Boules are provided.
- The garden
- Two thousand five hundred square metres, fully walled, planted with olive trees, cypresses and palms. Big enough for a ball game, a kite or a nap out of the way, and enclosed enough to let children roam freely.
